Pratik Agarwal is the Chairman of Serentica Renewables, a green energy company that focuses on providing round-the-clock carbon-free power to large consumers of energy in India.

Pratik is also the Managing Director of Sterlite Power and is also a non-executive director at Sterlite Technologies Limited and Sterlite Investment Managers Ltd. Previously, he has held directorship positions in Sterlite Ports, Vizag General Cargo Berth Ltd, and Speedon Networks Limited. He also spearheads Vedanta group’s investor relations and key strategic matters. Vedanta Limited is a USD 17 billion Annual Revenue company.

Under his leadership, Sterlite Power has built, financed, and operated close to 19,000 ckm of high voltage transmission lines and invested USD ~6 billion in developing 33 projects across India & Brazil. In 2017, Sterlite spun-out its Indian operating assets into a yield platform called IndiGrid – India’s first power sector Invit (Infrastructure Investment Trust). IndiGrid, was subsequently acquired by high-profile Investment funds like KKR, GIC.

To decarbonize the hard to abate industries, Pratik recently announced a renewable energy platform – Serentica, which has already signed ~1800 MW power supply agreements to provide 24/7 round-the-clock renewable power to large industrial consumers in India. The platform has raised $650 Mn funding from KKR, one of the largest industrial decarbonization investments in India. This is KKR’s second deal with the Group.

Pratik is a prominent thought leader who is actively pursuing development of cross-country transmission interconnectors to tap into rich RE diversity across continents in line with the One Sun One World One Grid (OSOWOG) initiative. Under his leadership, Sterlite is testing the potential for India – Middle East transmission link to allow transfer of 20 GW of power in Phase 1 via HVDC subsea link through the Arabian Sea.

Pratik is passionate about climate change and the role that companies can play in reversing this phenomenon. Serentica Renewables, which is built as a sustainable energy platform, will provide industries with round-the-clock clean energy, thereby supporting India’s clean energy transition as well as net zero goals.

Pratik is the chairman of the committee on Power Transmission of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), member of the Indian Advisory Board of the India-Brazil Chamber of Commerce (IBCC) and the President of Electric Power Transmission Association (EPTA), India.

Pratik received the Economic Times CEO of the Year Award at the Energy Leadership Summit 2022. In 2018, he also received Economic Times 40 under 40 award, which recognizes young business leaders under the age of forty.

Pratik holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA degree from the London Business School.
